How We Choose the Best Fillers for Your Rejuvenation

You know the main reason so many people are hesitant about cosmetic procedures? It’s because they think that their only option is surgery. Whenever we have a new patient at Azul, we always try to educate them about all their choices. These include surgical AND non-surgical procedures.
The great thing about non-surgical procedures is that they often offer excellent results. This can make them very attractive to those who are nervous about surgical procedures, or to those who can’t afford a lot of recovery time. With non-surgical procedures, the recovery time is usually minimal.
Some of our most popular non-surgical procedures are dermal fillers. A dermal filler is an injectable treatment where we fill in areas of the face to minimize wrinkles, soften features or restore volume. Think of it as kind of a cosmetic caulking gun!
Dermal fillers can often confuse people, because there are so many different types on the market. At Azul, we offer four options, each one perfect for a different cosmetic concern.
While many people think that dermal fillers are primarily used to fill in deep wrinkles, Juvéderm is exceptionally effective at volumizing, plumping and smoothing out areas of your face.
Juvéderm is made up of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance used by the body to maintain skin volume and hydration. There are a number of different versions of Juvéderm in their product line, including Juvéderm XC, Voluma XC, Ultra XC, Volbella XC and Vollure XC. Each of these is designed to address a slightly different cosmetic concern.
While Restylane is also made up of hyaluronic acid, it’s primarily used to fill in deep facial wrinkles and folds. This is the filler most commonly used in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures, like Botox or Dysport, to boost results and make them last a bit longer.
Another reason Restylane is so popular is that it uses nothing of animal origin. This makes it perfect for vegans concerned about putting animal by-products into their body. Moreover, as the specific formula used in Restylane is naturally occurring in the body, you won’t have to worry about the potential for any allergies.
Unlike our first two dermal fillers, Radiesse is made from calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel. This makes it perfect to stimulate new collagen production and tissue regeneration, providing an additional lift alongside the filler.
Radiesse is one of our longest-lasting dermal fillers, used for moderate to deep wrinkles and folds. If you are concerned about heavy facial wrinkles aging your appearance, Radiesse might be for you.
Sculptra is one of the newest and most effective dermal fillers out on the market today. Made from poly-L-lactic acid, this filler is excellent at replacing fat in the face lost due to age. It’s a long-lasting filler that is also biocompatible and biodegradable.
It often takes more than one Sculptra treatment to achieve your cosmetic goals, but once finished, you can look younger than ever!
A major part of getting the best results you can from a cosmetic treatment is to pair them with complementary procedures. For dermal fillers, the best non-surgical complementary procedure is definitely Botox. This is another injectable treatment where a tiny amount of a neurotoxin is used to paralyze the tiny twitch muscles under the skin of the face. Once these muscles stop continually moving, the skin above will relax, and the wrinkles there will fade. Botox is especially effective around the eyes to eliminate crow’s feet, or on the forehead to eliminate light worry lines.
When you combine Botox and dermal fillers, you end up with the Azul Liquid Facelift, a combination treatment that can give you results comparable to a surgical facelift, but at a fraction of the recovery time!
Figuring out the right dermal filler for you is one of the reasons we offer free consultations.
