How the Liquid Facelift can Refresh Your Look

Have you begun to notice a downward turn on your face? The corners of your lips are pointing slightly toward your jawline, and your jawline is softening and drooping toward your neck? These characteristics can make your face look tired, or even angry or sad, and definitely making you look years older than you are. Historically, these signs of aging have been correctable only with surgery. The problem is, the early changes that take place, drooping brows, jowls, flattening cheekbones, don’t necessarily require surgery right away. Fortunately, there is something we can do in the interim, a liquid facelift.
Why Face Shape Changes
The older we get, the less collagen and elastin the body makes. Without these vital chemicals, the skin loses resiliency. It becomes less firm and more paper-like. The thinning and softening of the upper layers of the dermis lead to progressively worse lines, creases, and sagging. While there may be strategies to help the body produce more collagen (like taking vitamin C), there is usually also a need for correction. As an alternative to surgical correction, doctors are now using injectables.
What a Liquid Facelift Can Do
Ultimately, a liquid facelift can rejuvenate the face and make you look happier and friendlier. How this happens is a bit of magic. Some of the ways in which carefully-selected injectables can restore a youthful vibe include:
- Raising the eyebrows. On the forehead are muscles that pull upward and muscles that pull downward. These muscles typically offset each other. With age, the tug-of-war becomes more one-sided. To keep the brow line where it belongs, along the upper bony ridge over the eyes, we have to consciously lift the forehead muscles. A liquid facelift can address this issue using Botox or Dysport to relax the downward-pulling deeper muscles located around the brow line. By relaxing the downward-pulling muscles it allows the upward pulling muscles to effectively give you a “Botox Brow-Lift”.
- Opening the eyes. A sagging brow line inevitably pushes down on the upper eyelids. This closes off the eyes. Additionally, puffiness below the eyes can create a fatigued appearance. By lifting the brow, the eyes regain their vibrancy. For the lower lids, dermal fillers can be used to smooth the lines made by the tear troughs at the upper cheek.
- Contouring. You may have heard the term contouring quite a lot in recent years. Typically, people refer to facial contouring as a makeup technique. However, contouring is vital to youthfulness. Using dermal fillers, our Master Injectors can restore volume in the mid-face to make the cheekbones “pop.” Not only does mid-face contouring improve the angles of the face, but it also lifts the tissue that has begun to sag along the jawline, giving a younger and slimmer look.
A surgical facelift is a beneficial approach to more severe signs of aging. To correct mild to moderate sagging and contour loss, more people are turning to the liquid facelift.
