Forget Resolutions: Define True Personal Goals & a Real Path to Get There
- Posted on: Jan 7 2016
New job. New best run time. Earn more, save more, spend more. Feel younger. Look younger. Whatever your resolutions are for 2016, you need to figure out a path to achieve them. Will the “new” you require only an update in wardrobe, hairstyle, makeup? Or are you ready to take the next step to matching your outer self to your inner one? Dr. Flaharty and his highly experienced team at Azul are ready to help you find the path to reach your goal.
If you a) are considering a facelift but aren’t yet certain whether it’s the right step for you, or b) want achieve noticeable results quickly and don’t mind if they’re temporary, then one of our non-invasive procedures may be the solution for you.
Our most popular non-invasive procedure is the liquid facelift. This isn’t a facelift in the true sense, of course, but it certainly serves to lift the facial features and can be dramatic.. Over time, your face loses collagen and elasticity, causing your skin to wrinkle and sag. A liquid facelift uses dermal fillers plus Botox or Dysport for wrinkle reduction, facial contouring and volumization. This has the effect of “plumping up” sagging cheeks and reducing eye bags. A liquid facelift can be a good way to see results before you commit to having a more permanent surgical procedure, and there is little to no recovery time.
There are also a number of other non-surgical procedures that treat the outer layers of skin only:
- Laser resurfacing uses concentrated beams of pulsed light to remove damaged skin. The new layers of skin that replace it are firmer and smoother. This “laser peel” may require a local anesthetic. Some swelling and discomfort usually follows, though it typically resolves within a week. With a proper skincare regimen, you should be your new, youthful self within six weeks of treatment.
- Chemical peels are just what they sound like — a chemical solution is applied to the face to remove the surface layers, allowing layers of new skin to grow. These can range from superficial (Glycolic Acid) to deeper peels (phenol or trichloroacetic [TCA]) Specific “problem” areas, such as dark spots or creapy skin under the eye, respond very well to TCA peels. The recovery time varies with the depth of the treatment itself. Your face is important enough to entrust to a specialist like Dr. Flaharty, who performs facial procedures exclusively.
- Microdermabrasion is ideal for removing light scarring (such as acne scarring), blemishes and other imperfections. Unlike full dermabrasion (which is a surgical procedure and requires seven to ten days of recovery time) or the two procedures above, microdermabrasion lets you walk out of Dr. Flaharty’s office with immediately radiant, rejuvenated skin.
While no resurfacing treatment will yield exactly the same results as a surgical facelift, they all restore a more youthful appearance by smoothing and firming your skin. Your goal of looking younger without surgery may be within easier reach than you think!
