Boost Your Confidence with Permanent Makeup

There are people out there who say that women take a “lifetime” putting their makeup on. Turns out they are wrong. It doesn’t take a lifetime, just a year of one. Yes, over an average lifetime, women will spend a cumulative year (or more!) putting on makeup. That is an incredible amount of time. Those fifteen minutes each morning can really add up over the course of eighty or so years! For busy, professional women who are under huge stress, that is time that could be spent doing more important things. Thankfully, there is now a permanent solution. Permanent makeup!
What is permanent makeup?
Permanent makeup refers to a number of different procedures that involve injecting pigment below the surface of the skin to simulate the appearance of makeup. Essentially, we are tattooing makeup onto your face. The benefits of this are immediately clear. Imagine waking up first thing in the morning, stumbling to the shower, getting out… and your makeup is already on and perfect! What a time saver! You no longer have to worry about physical activities resulting in your makeup sweating off. Your face will still look picture-perfect, even after a workout! At Azul Cosmetic Surgery & Medical Spa, we offer a number of permanent makeup options such as permanent eyeliner, brow liner, lip liner, and lip pigmentation to simulate lipstick.
Are there other benefits?
In addition to the great convenience of no longer having to do your makeup every morning, there are huge benefits for people who have scarring or conditions that cause a loss of pigmentation. Through the use of permanent makeup, we can greatly reduce the appearance of scars on the face and lips, fixing the pigmentation to match the rest of your skin. People who suffer from conditions like vitiligo, which causes a loss of skin pigmentation leading to white patches, can regain their skin color using this method. For some who suffer from sensitive skin or makeup allergies, permanent makeup can provide an effective beauty solution. If you or someone you know has a degenerative disease that makes makeup application difficult or impossible (Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, or even just arthritis), permanent makeup can be the solution they are looking for.
Does it hurt?
No sugar-coating this one. Yes, there can be some discomfort during the procedure. However, unlike regular tattooing, we use topical anesthetics to numb the areas where the permanent makeup is being applied.
How long does it take? What is the recovery time like?
It really depends on the procedure being done. On average, you are looking at about one or two hours for application of the permanent makeup. You can expect the color of the makeup to be a bit darker and brighter than you might expect for the first ten or so days after application, just like any other tattoo.
As with any cosmetic procedure, permanent makeup isn’t for everyone. But for those who want to have some extra time in the morning, need a cosmetic touch-up, or just want to have their makeup be perfect 24/7, permanent makeup might be the best possible solution!
