Understanding the Endoscopic Brow Lift

You know what one of the biggest problems the cosmetic surgery industry has, when it comes to patients? Education.

There are so many different surgical procedures out there, from face and neck lifts to chin and cheek enhancements to CO2 laser skin resurfacing, that it can be difficult for patients to keep track of them all, much less know what they’re all about. There are a lot of misconceptions floating around about cosmetic surgery, many of them left over from decades ago. At Azul, we always do our best to correct these misconceptions, and make sure that our patients have all the information they need to make informed decisions about their procedures (that’s one of the reasons we offer free consultations with all our providers, including Dr. Flaharty).

One of the most misunderstood surgical procedures is the endoscopic brow lift. When many people think about brow lifts, they picture tabloid headline from the 80s of a celebrity with a permanently surprised expression. Thankfully, brow lifts have come a long, long way since then. Today’s endoscopic brow lift barely resembles the surgical brow lift from years ago. Modern techniques give you completely natural-looking results with almost invisible scarring. And if you’re looking for the best of the best to do this procedure, you’ve come to the right place!

Endoscopic Brow Lift

The endoscopic brow lift is one of Dr. Flaharty’s specialties. He has performed the procedure countless times, refining his technique to provide you with completely natural-looking eyes and forehead.

As we age, we can start to develop deep, heavy lines in our forehead. These are completely normal, but can make us appear tired, sad or angry. If you have noticed drooping brows and aging skin, or deep furrows along your brows, then an endoscopic brow lift will be able to help.

Surprisingly, we frequently see patients who think they need an eyelid lift, but after the Consultation exam, they actually need a brow lift. The weight of your eyelids pressing down, may be related to your lids, but it may also be related to a fallen brow. In Dr. Flaharty’s Consultation, he will measure, touch, and move your skin to see whether it’s a fallen brow or sagging lids – or both.

There is always an art to cosmetic surgery procedures, and this is definitely true with an endoscopic brow lift (often called “endo-brow”). Rather than a large, obvious incision near the crown of your head, the endoscopic brow lift uses a few tiny incisions hidden along the hairline, to release and lift the brow. Once the incisions are made, Dr. Flaharty will put an endoscope, a tiny surgical tube with a camera on the end, into one of the incisions, allowing him to see the area that needs to be treated. Once the brow has been released, the entire forehead can then be lifted and reshaped. The 4 incisions created are so small, they are generally closed with only 4 small stitches each.

After the forehead has been lifted, the tissue can then be secured in place using small bio-absorbable devices that attach to the bone – they are very much like dissolvable suture material. As your body absorbs these anchors, your brow is held in place by your own tissue.

If you aren’t quite ready for an endoscopic brow lift yet, there are non-surgical options. If you don’t mind coming back in occasionally, Botox and dermal fillers can offer you fantastic results, minimizing the fine lines around your eyes and the deep lines along your forehead. The only thing is that your results from these usually only last up to three to six months. After that, you’ll need to come back in for a touch-up. The beauty of the endoscopic brow lift is that your results are basically permanent. After your recovery period (usually about a week to return to work), the effects of the procedure will likely be visible for 10 to 12 years!

Dr. Flaharty is a master of many facial cosmetic surgery procedures, but his talent and skill when it comes to endoscopic brow lifts cannot be understated. When you come to him for this procedure, know that you will be in the best possible hands. You won’t have to worry about heavy scarring or long recovery periods. You will just able to enjoy your lifted, line-free brow, looking years younger than when you first came into Azul!

During your consultation, feel free to discuss your lower face and neck as well (face and neck lift). Dr. Flaharty feels his happiest patients are those who chose full-face rejuvenation. By lifting the lower-face & neck along with the eyes/brow your face has a youthful harmony. There is no “younger area” and “older area”, you just look younger.

The endoscopic brow lift isn’t the only surgical cosmetic procedure we offer, and there are many non-surgical options you may want to consider. If you’d like to book a free consultation with Dr. Flaharty to determine your best path, we invite you to give us a call at (239) 747-1148, or visit our website at www.azulbeauty.com. After getting an endoscopic brow lift from Dr. Flaharty, the only surprised expression will be on the faces of your friends and family as they try to figure out just how you look so young and energetic!
