We can’t say that we are about to experience a massive shift in weather. The term “sweater season” does not mean the same thing here in our vicinity as it does farther north. That said, we may be moving away from longer and hotter days, which means we have a prime opportunity to look at how those days outdoors may be affecting our skin. As the days get shorter and a little cooler, our skin is more than ready for a refresher. Here at Azul Cosmetic Surgery & Medical Spa, we have numerous ways to help our patients regain their gorgeous glow. Many of them involve some type of resurfacing.
Get a Skin Refresher
The skin loves refreshment! It also can reach a point where it desperately needs it. Resurfacing methods are intended to achieve this through chemical, mechanical, or thermal exfoliation. Regardless of technique, the results are similar in that they slough off dead and damaged skin cells and stimulate some degree of healing in which more collagen is produced in the area. In our facilities, patients may choose from a variety of resurfacing and exfoliating treatments. These include:
- Chemical peels, which slough off damaged cells through a treatment using a low grade concentration of glycolic, lactic or other acid.
- Microdermabrasion, which causes cellular turnover and exfoliation mechanically through a special rotating tip that is passed over the skin..
- MicroLaser Peel resurfacing utilizes a specialized laser to remove damaged cells.
- HALO laser treatment, which emits fractional ablative and nonablative energy for more profound tissue remodeling.

One of the advantageous aspects of the resurfacing treatments we offer is that they can meet just about anyone’s needs. They can be adjusted to be lighter or deeper based on your own needs and preferences. The strength of treatment dictates side effects, downtime, and the extent of improvement achieved. In general, though, a resurfacing treatment can bring rewards that include smoother skin, more radiance, lightening of sunspots, smaller pores, unclogged pores, and a reduction of fine lines.
