Your Skin Needs Help to Age Well and We’ve Got Some Suggestions for You
- Posted on: Mar 15 2020
The skin ages all by itself even if we do nothing to help it along. However, especially in our sunny, tropical climate, we often do inadvertently fuel the aging process. It should come as a relief to know that, while we can’t completely stop the skin from aging, there are ways that we can prolong a youthful appearance. In more than two decades of practice, Dr. Flaharty has performed thousands of facial procedures. Using his knowledge of the skin and underlying tissue, he has established a facility in which surgery doesn’t have to be the primary method of refreshing the face. Here, we offer a few suggestions that can help you help your aging skin.
HydraFacial
The HydraFacial MD treatment sits between a standard facial and a laser resurfacing treatment in the ways it can support the skin. The resurfacing achieved in a HydraFacial session is gentle, cleansing and exfoliating the skin using vortex technology. Then, when the skin is primed to receive nutrients, it is bathed in a serum of peptides, antioxidants, and hyaluronic acid.
Microneedling
When it comes to tissue regeneration, we can’t do better than the body’s own collagen and elastin. The problem is that, by around age 30, these chemicals aren’t produced in the vast quantities needed to sustain smooth, firm skin. Microneedling is a collagen induction therapy that works by creating tiny vertical channels in the upper layers of the skin. The micro-injuries heal very quickly with little downtime, but the body continues to produce healthy new collagen for several weeks. To enhance the results of microneedling, a provider may apply a serum to the skin.
Halo
Laser skin resurfacing has reached new levels of comfort and efficacy with the Halo Fractional Laser device. This treatment combines ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to the same microscopic treatment zone on the skin. This creates a synergy that removes the outermost layer of skin in micro-zones and also penetrates the surface to stimulate enhanced collagen and elastin production. One of the reasons Halo skin resurfacing is so popular is that this treatment achieves outstanding results with minimal downtime.
INFINI
The INFINI RF microneedling device is all about tissue-tightening. It works by delivering radiofrequency energy more deeply into the dermis using 24 Karat gold microneedles as a pathway. The combination of these therapies maximizes the degree of collagen-stimulation that is possible in a single treatment. The improvements begun during an INFINI treatment continue to develop over several months.
InstaLift
For those who are ready for a more significant lift without surgery, the Silhouette InstaLift may be ideal. One of the benefits of this treatment is that there is no wait-time between the procedure and the outcome. This thread-lift technique inserts surgical grade sutures with affixed cones into the subcutaneous tissue of the skin. Cones are inserted in a bidirectional pattern that allows us to smooth and hold the skin in a tighter position for several months.
