Surgical Everything! Get Everything Done at Once for a New You!
- Posted on: Nov 23 2018
Isn’t it fun when you get to say “Give me the works!” You know you’re in for a treat.
It’s a little more complicated when it comes to cosmetic surgery, but if you come into Azul and want “the works,” that’s what you are going to get!
One of the reasons some people are reluctant to get cosmetic surgery is because of the recovery times. Although the incredibly long-lasting and natural-looking results are tempting, they can’t afford to take time off to get the harmonious rejuvenation they want – a few days for this, a week for that, and on and on. So, they opt for still effective, but somewhat limited and shorter-lasting non-surgical procedures, like our Liquid Facelift (injectables).
This is an entirely viable method to reach a harmonious rejuvenation, but not a long-lasting one. After just a few months, you would have to come back into Azul to get new dermal fillers and a Botox refresh. But what if, instead of having to book months off or coming in repeatedly, you could get everything done at once? If you could come into Azul and say, “Dr. Flaharty, give me the works!”
Well, now you can! More than one surgical procedure can be done during the same session. In fact, we can do five of them! You come in, Dr. Flaharty performs five of our most powerful and effective surgical procedures, and you will only have to worry about one recovery period! When patients are ready for full-face rejuvenation, we often recommend 4-5 of the procedures below. The decision is often made based on skin elasticity, sun damage, prior surgical history and other personal preference factors.
Face and Neck Lift
We see lower face and neck lifts as the foundation of any harmonious rejuvenation.
As we age, we start to develop deep folds and creases in the face as we lose collagen and elastin in the deeper layers of the skin. We even lose bone in our face – this is often the foundation of that hollow or “starved” look. The best way to reverse these signs of aging is to tighten up the muscles while addressing excess /missing fat and loose skin. In other words, a lower facelift!
Today, a facelift is most frequently performed as a lower-face and neck lift. Think of it as improving everything from the cheek bones downward.
Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
The skin around your eyes is usually the first part of the face to show signs of aging. This is because the skin there is so thin and delicate. It stretches and wrinkles faster than the other areas of the face, giving you a tired and exhausted appearance with deep crow’s feet and loose skin. While some patients have protruding fat deposits, others have deep dark sunken hollows – all can be corrected during a blepharoplasty.
Eyelid surgery allows us to address all of these issues. Dr. Flaharty trims and tightens up the excess skin around the eyelids, while sculpting the fat deposits and filling in the hollows of the face (like under the eyes).
Blepharoplasty is performed either as an Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty (Bleph, pronounce as “blef”) or a Lower Eyelid Bleph. They are often performed together, but not always. An Upper Bleph treats skin laxity and fat deposits, while Lower Bleph treats puffiness, sagging and dark circles under the eyes.
Endoscopic Brow Lift
Brow lifts used to be very complicated and invasive procedures. There was no way to raise the brow other than creating a large (coronal) incision across the top of your head. This procedure absolutely raised the brows, but had some potential negatives as well, including: large, sometimes lumpy scar; overly tall forehead; and a surprised look.
With Dr. Flaharty, that’s not the case at all! He only performs the endoscopic brow lift. Dr. Flaharty makes a number (4) of tiny incisions hidden along the hairline. From here, he can release the brow and reshape it, without the need for anything more invasive. The incisions are hidden in your hair and the small Endotine used to secure the positioning dissolves within 6 months just like dissolvable suture.
An endoscopic brow lift can help relieve heavy and sagging brows that make you appear tired or even angry. It will get rid of those deep furrows between your brows and give you a much younger and more youthful appearance!
Fat Transfer
The loss of fat in our face is often the underlying for the appearance of an older face. As we age, we lose subcutaneous fat and the fat pads in our face separate and begin to drift downward. These changes cause some of the deeper lines and folds in our face as well as the much-hated appearance of jowls. Although dermal fillers are quite effective at treating this, a much more long-lasting and natural solution is fat transfer.
Fat transfer is essentially a localized version of liposuction. Dr. Flaharty takes living fat cells from one part of your body, purifies them, and then re-inject them into the areas of the face where you’ve lost volume. These fat cells “set up shop” in their new home, replacing the fat that was lost due to age. Dr. Flaharty’s technique with fat transfer is both meticulous and beautiful. Because the fat cells are living, they require blood supply once transferred to your face. He grafts them in tiny micro-droplets throughout your face giving them the best opportunity to be nourished and thrive – giving you a youthful fullness you had 10-20 years ago.
Dr. Flaharty will often transfer 40-50cc of your own fat, of which approximately 70% will thrive. If you had to pay for that much fat in dermal fillers, it would cost over $20,000 – and it wouldn’t last more than 12-24 months!
CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing
So we’ve tightened everything up, we’ve plumped up your skin, and now it’s time for the finishing touch!
Over the years, our skin can suffer a lot of wear and tear. Sun damage, especially in Florida, is widespread, leading to brown spots, redness and uneven texture. You also can develop an accumulation of scar tissue, like old acne scars.
The quickest and most effective way to rejuvenate your skin is to simply remove the top few microns of it! Using a carbon dioxide ablative laser, we can minimize wrinkles and stretch marks, decrease the size of enlarged pores, reduce scars, improve skin tone and remove age spots and spider veins.
Hopefully, I’ve helped you to see some of the advantages to having your procedures done in one surgical procedure: Cost, Recovery, Harmonious Appearance, Anesthesia – and last, but not least, the pure joy of loving the way you look!
