How Halo Can Give You Happier Skin
- Posted on: Feb 14 2020
We don’t often think about our skin as happy or unhappy. Although the skin is our largest organ, it is limited to physical sensations, not emotional feelings. However, judging by the appearance of our skin, we can find indications of damage due to UV exposure, aging, and other factors. From this, we could assume that damaged skin can’t be all that thrilled with its current situation.
At Azul Cosmetic Surgery and Medical Spa, we believe that vital, vibrant skin is happy skin. It is also key to lasting beauty. The sooner we begin pampering aging skin (and it’s all aging skin!), the more we can prolong softness, smoothness, firmness, and other attributes that are associated with youth. One of our favorite modalities we use for transforming skin is the Halo laser.
What is Halo Laser Treatment?
You may have heard of Halo laser treatment, seeing that it has been a trend among celebrities for the past few years. This breakthrough treatment is the first of its kind, combining two types of lasers to maximize results without extended downtime. The benefits of Halo treatment come from the joining of nonablative laser with ablative laser technology.
Ablative laser treatments have existed for many years and are revered for their effectiveness at slowing and reducing the signs of aging. This laser modality is somewhat like aerating the lawn. The treatment creates microchannels in the upper layers of the skin, leaving a percentage of tissue fully intact. This is the basis of fractional laser therapy. The creation of microchannels is also a removal of the outer layers of the skin over those points. While ablative laser treatments have been popular for some time now, they have also been reserved for people who could manage a week or two of redness, swelling, and flaking.
Nonablative laser treatments are popular because they are gentler and incur minimal downtime. A nonablative laser does not remove tissue. It heats the outer layers of the skin to bring more collagen and elastin to the surface.
During a Halo fractional laser treatment, both forms of energy are delivered simultaneously. This targets the epidermis to break up discoloration and reduce fine lines. It also targets the dermis, where new collagen and elastin are made. As a result, patients can address a variety of imperfections at once without the lengthy recovery associated with other laser treatments.
