Dermaplaning to Reveal Your Inner Glow
- Posted on: May 21 2018
Dermaplaning is a fabulous treatment from the past that is enjoying new popularity. You might be surprised that something from the past can compete in popularity with new facial therapies and techniques. But think about the popularity of “farm to table” – it just goes to show that good ideas never go out of style.
If you haven’t yet heard about Dermaplaning, it’s a non-surgical light exfoliation performed by a qualified Esthetician using an ultra-sharp blade to remove dead skin cells, cellular debris and vellus hair (peach fuz). It’s thought that the very fine hairs not only hold makeup and obscure the beauty of your skin, they also capture and hold cellular debris. Dermaplaning can give your skin a softly polished look. While we don’t recommend it for those struggling with severe acne, it can be especially helpful for acne-prone skin as part of an acne-control regimen.
Knowing that the Esthetician uses a very sharp blade, you might wonder if dermaplaning hurts? We’ve got a great answer: Not even in the slightest! It feels a bit like shaving, and is one of the most relaxing and comfortable treatments that we offer at Azul. Dead skin cells and other cellular debris build up over time, so we suggest scheduling dermaplaning every 4-6 weeks as to maintain that polished look, or alternate Dermaplaning with you facials or hydrafacials. There are so many different skin-beautifying options offered at Azul, you can rotate them to constantly give your skin a refreshing boost while allowing you to experience a series of relaxing and restorative treatments.
For those wanting a deeper more significant treatment, we also offer microdermabrasion, a variety of peels, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL or BBL), or even fractional laser resurfacing. By coming to Azul Cosmetic Surgery and Medical Spa you have given yourself the full spectrum of care options. We offer everything from a relaxing facial with an Esthetician, to IPL or BBL with our Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners, or a laser resurfacing with Dr. Patrick Flaharty. With so many options, our goal is always to provide you with the right care for your goals, budget and timeline. Hopefully, after learning about Dermaplaning, you are interested in either scheduling a treatment or perhaps would like to talk further with an Esthetician. Our Esthetician consults are complimentary and there is no pressure to purchase. At Azul we’ve built our reputation and practice one patient at a time by word of mouth.
