Choosing the Right Facial Surgery for the Most Impact
- Posted on: Jun 7 2016
Performing facial surgery is more than just a vocation for me – it’s my life! In fact, it’s all I do: after completing more than 20,000 facial plastic surgeries, I’m proud to have been named one of America’s leading aesthetic facial surgery specialists. If you’re looking for breast augmentation, a tummy tuck or even rhinoplasty, you’ll be better off choosing a plastic surgeon who specializes in these areas. If, however, you’re looking for the right surgical procedure(s) to restore your face to the more youthful look you enjoyed ten years ago, I’m here to help you achieve the most natural-looking results, with as little downtime as possible.
As an oculoplastic specialist, I perform plastic surgery exclusively on the face, with particular focus on the muscle, skin and tissue around the eyes. I often recommend blepharoplasty – also called an eyelid lift – to patients with sagging eyelids, who want a more alert, “awake” look. An upper blepharoplasty lifts and tightens skin that droops onto your upper eyelids, while a lower blepharoplasty smooths and tucks the “bags” beneath your eyes. In some cases, I’ll perform an endoscopic brow lift instead of (or in addition to) eyelid surgery. This is simply a matter of lifting the skin and tissues of your forehead, via tiny incisions in your hairline. Patients often ask to combine blepharoplasty with a brow lift to fully rejuvenate their upper face.
It’s not all about the eyes, though. A combined face and neck lift is the most popular facial surgery for both men and women, and has been the gold standard for facial rejuvenation for over a century. During your consultation, we’ll go over exactly what you want and how we can achieve the best results. There’s no “one-size-fits-all” when it comes to facial plastic surgery – I customize each procedure specifically to get the best results that look like the natural YOU. While I normally don’t perform liposuction, the exception is when a patient opts to combine an autologous fat transfer with a face and neck lift. This involves removing, processing and re-injecting your own fat into target areas as a natural substitute for dermal fillers. Whichever volumizing treatment you choose can improve your results and make them last longer.
But if your appearance goals are more about facial structure – a weak chin, or cheeks that appear hollow or sunken – there are several options for shaping your lower face. It’s quite common for me to perform chin and cheek enhancement on both men and women, and of course, each requires a slightly different approach. Men often want to achieve that strong-jawed, masculine look, while women are often looking for softly tapered “heart-shaped” face. Depending on your preferences, I use dermal fillers or implants (or a combination of both) to sculpt more prominent or contoured features that fill out the profile you want.
I want you to be as happy as possible with the results of your facial surgery, both right away and ten years from now. In a way, the most difficult job is yours.
