Endoscopic Brow Lift
in Naples, Fort Myers, & Bonita Springs, FL
One of the most important advances in facial aesthetic surgery in the past 20 years is the development of small-incision, endoscopic brow lift techniques, also known as an endoscopic forehead lift. Now at his practices in Naples, Fort Myers and Bonita Springs, Florida, Dr. Patrick Flaharty can use these techniques to rejuvenate the forehead.
What Is A Brow Lift?
One of the keys to the success of a brow lift surgery is the modern fixation technique. Through 4 small incisions hidden in the hairline, he can release and lift the entire brow. Once the brow is released the entire forehead can be lifted and reshaped. The tissues are then held in place with a small absorbable device that attaches to the bone and allows an accurate shaping of the brow. This achieves superb and long-lasting rejuvenation for the entire forehead with minimal downtime.

What Problems Can a Brow Lift Fix?
If you have a sagging, heavy brow, this can make you look tired, sad, or even angry. This is because the upper third of the face is where we communicate most of our emotions. The goal of a brow lift with Dr. Flaharty is to elevate the brows and erase the lines and creases on the forehead.
- Remove forehead lines and creases
- Raise drooping brows and eyelids
- Refresh a perpetually tired appearance
- Remove deep furrows between the brows
- Give the patient a younger, more energetic appearance
Am I a Candidate for Brow Lift Surgery?
The endoscopic brow lift is useful to improve the appearance of both men and women. For men with the hairline recession, incisions are hidden in the natural creases of their upper forehead. While still maintaining a masculine brow shape for men, not arched, but flat or slightly down-turned. Similarly, with women, the incisions are hidden in the hairline for a natural-looking result. With dissolvable sutures and the use of Endotine, you will be back to normal in no time.
What is a Good Age to Get a Brow Lift?
Most patients opting for brow lift surgeries are between the ages of 40 and 60 and are plagued by sagging brows and aging skin on the forehead.

What is the Difference between a Brow Lift and Eyelid Surgery?
These two procedures have similar goals with different focuses. A brow lift stabilizes the position of the eyebrow and only indirectly improves the upper eyelid position. Brow lifts typically improve the hooding of the skin that hangs over the outer corners of the upper eyelids or the heavy brows themselves that hang over the eye sockets above the eyelids.
Upper eyelid surgery specifically addresses the eyelids themselves. Upper eyelid surgery removes excess skin that hangs over the eyelid and often encroaches upon the eyelashes. Making the eyes appear more youthful and brighter.
How is an Endoscopic Brow Lift Procedure Performed?
Dr. Flaharty makes 4 small incisions within the hairline. He then inserts the endoscope, a tiny instrument with a camera on the end, through one of the incisions. This gives him a view of the area to be addressed without the need for a long coronal incision. Through the other incisions, he inserts tools needed. Next he releases and lifts the entire brow. Now he is able to lift and reshape the brows.
To hold the changes in place, Dr. Flaharty utilizes small absorbable devices called endotines that attach to the bone and alleviate tissue strain caused by deep tissue sutures. Through this modern fixation, Dr. Flaharty is able to deliver natural, long-lasting rejuvenation to the entire forehead, all with minimal downtime thanks to his use of the endoscope. The combination of Endotine and endoscopy allow for precise placement of the brow and minimal swelling.
What Procedures Can Be Combined with a Brow Lift?
This procedure is often performed in conjunction with a lower face and neck lift as part of the Azul Natural Facelift procedure to achieve a harmonious rejuvenation of the entire face. As with all facial cosmetic surgery, endoscopic brow lifts are performed under intravenous sedation with local anesthetic for the comfort and safety of our patients.

What is the Recovery from Brow Lift Surgery?
You will have some tightness across the forehead for the first 1-2 days after your brow lift. During that time you’ll need to keep your head elevated, even for sleeping. There will be some swelling and bruising, but this is far less because Dr. Flaharty uses the endoscopic method. This can migrate down into your cheeks and around the eyes. That should resolve in 5-7 days.
When Can I Return To My Regular Activities After My Forehead Lift?
Most patients can return to work in a week or so after an endoscopic brow lift. Strenuous exercise or lifting needs to be avoided for several weeks, as it creates pressure on the forehead area. Because Dr. Flaharty makes only short, minimal incisions within your hairline, scarring is virtually invisible and not really an issue.
How Long Will My Forehead Lift Results Last?
The changes made in your brow lift are permanent, but they unfortunately can’t stop the ongoing processes of aging. The goal in a brow lift is to give permanent improvement to the transverse lines and frown lines of the forehead, and to raise the brows. Your forehead lines will never again be as severe. Your brows will continue to descend with aging, but they will now descend from a higher, more youthful position. You won’t have the same kind of sagging that you had, despite the passing years. The average brow lift patient can expect the effects of the procedure to visibly last from 10-12 years. Of course, these results vary by the patient.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is an endoscopic brow lift different from a traditional brow lift?
The endoscopic method uses small incisions and a camera (endoscope) for precision, resulting in minimal scarring and faster recovery compared to older, open techniques.
What areas of my face will this brow lift improve?
It primarily treats drooping or heavy brows, deep forehead furrows, and the overall upper third of the face to create a more alert and youthful look.
Is a brow lift the same as eyelid surgery?
No — a brow lift raises the brow position and can indirectly help hooding, but eyelid surgery directly removes excess eyelid skin.
Am I a good candidate for a brow lift?
Ideal candidates have sagging brows, deep forehead lines, or a tired appearance, and are in good overall health. Specific candidacy will be confirmed during your consultation.
Is there a recommended age for getting this procedure?
Many patients seeking brow lifts are between their 40s and 60s, but individual needs vary with aging changes.
Can men and women both get this procedure?
Yes, brow lifts work for both men and women, and the approach is tailored to maintain natural gender-specific brow shapes.
How long does the endoscopic brow lift surgery take?
The length varies but is generally completed in a few hours during a single surgical session.
What type of anesthesia is used?
It’s typically performed under intravenous sedation with local anesthesia for comfort and safety.
Will I have visible scars after the procedure?
Incisions are very small and hidden within the hairline, so scarring is minimal and often virtually invisible.
Can this be combined with other facial cosmetic procedures?
Yes — it’s often combined with face and neck lifts or eyelid surgery for more harmonious rejuvenation.
What can I expect during recovery?
Expect some forehead tightness, swelling, and bruising for a few days, with most visible swelling resolving within a week.
How soon can I return to normal activities?
Most patients can return to regular non-strenuous activities in about a week, avoiding heavy lifting or exercise for several weeks.
Will I need to sleep differently after surgery?
Yes — keeping your head elevated (even during sleep) helps reduce swelling in the early recovery period.
How long will the results last?
Brow lift results are long-lasting and can be visible for many years (often around a decade), though aging continues naturally over time.
Will my brows look “overdone” or unnatural?
When performed properly, results are subtle and natural — your brows will be lifted to a refreshed position without an exaggerated look.
What are the potential risks or complications?
Like any surgery, risks include swelling, bruising, temporary numbness, and rare complications. Your surgeon will explain how these are managed during the consultation.
Is this procedure safe?
Endoscopic brow lifts are considered safe when performed by a qualified, board-certified surgeon with experience in facial cosmetic procedures.
Will my consultation help determine the best approach for me?
Yes — during your consultation, your goals and anatomy are reviewed to determine if a brow lift or another treatment is most appropriate.
