One of the most exciting things about working in the field of cosmetic surgery is that nothing is ever static. New procedures, techniques, trends and technology are debuting all the time, completely changing the cosmetic surgery landscape. The mark of a truly great cosmetic surgery clinic is the ability to keep up with these shifts and offer them to their patients as soon as possible. That’s the standard that we live up to at Azul, in no small part thanks to Dr. Patrick Flaharty!
In 2012, Dr. Flaharty wrote a 21st century guide to facial cosmetic surgery, called Look Younger Now: Fillers, Face Lifts and Everything in Between. This book walked readers through the world of facial rejuvenation as it existed at that time. Although there is still a lot of valuable information in that book, the world of facial cosmetic surgery is very different than it was five years ago. The popularity of non-surgical techniques has exploded, offering patients options that simply didn’t exist when Look Younger Now was written. Not only that, surgical techniques have gotten far more sophisticated, with many procedures no longer requiring general anesthesia and offering greatly reduced recovery times. Dr. Flaharty has kept up with every cosmetic advance since he wrote his last book, and just released a brand new book, showcasing how facial cosmetic surgery can turn back the clock and give you more natural-looking results than ever! It’s called Young Again: A Baby Boomer’s Guide to Modern Facial Rejuvenation.
The book is filled with all of the knowledge and experience that Dr. Flaharty has accumulated in his 20-plus years of practicing facial cosmetic surgery. As he says in the introduction…
Welcome to my world—and to my passion! When I first graduated from medical school over 30 years ago, the field of aesthetics was a small, highly specialized area where doctors had a limited selection of different surgical procedures to choose from to rejuvenate the face. More often than not, these “rejuvenation” procedures resulted in the telltale signs of people “having had work done” because of their “stretched” and not very natural-looking appearance (not to mention the sometimes months of recovery that could be required).
Compare that to today with, for example, the modern facelift, which is virtually unrecognizable from the facial rejuvenation surgeries of the past—it doesn’t require a general anesthetic to perform, patients are back on their feet usually after one or two days, and resuming their normal lives within two weeks. And the results? I always tell my patients, the true measure of a successful facelift is if people are scratching their heads and quietly wondering to themselves, “What has she done to look so great?”
Although Dr. Flaharty welcomes patients of all ages at Azul, in this book, he is specifically focusing on women over the age of 50. Today, women over 50 are defying every rule and norm in the book about “growing old gracefully”. As Dr. Flaharty says…
Today, we’ve become so accustomed to the front-and-center standing of women over 50 that it’s difficult even to remember the days when a successful, beautiful woman over 50 was an anomaly. Articles and blogs abound listing “50 Fabulous Women Over 50” and “Inspiring Entrepreneurs” starting new businesses after retirement. Dating sites specifically for those over 50 are so numerous, Consumer Reports has begun to rate them. They’re one of the fastest growing segments.
In his new book, you will learn all about the rejuvenating power of injectables, such as Botox, dermal fillers, and the Liquid Facelift. You’ll be introduced to cutting-edge non-surgical treatments like Ultherapy. You’ll become friends with skin-rejuvenating laser procedures, and body and face sculpting, fat-melting technology like CoolSculpting. This book will teach you what to look for in a cosmetic surgeon, as well as the red flags to watch out for. Dr. Flaharty has poured everything he has into this book, and, if I may say, it’s an incredible resource to have on any bookshelf!
