What is a Hydrafacial?

Where standard facials tend to use manual techniques to fully cleanse the skin, the Hydrafacial uses a combination of water, steam, and special vortex vacuum action to remove dirt, debris, oil, and dead skin cells from the face. The action of the stream of water and vortex suction promotes healthier, more resilient, more beautiful skin. Hydrafacials can reduce pore size and breakouts, and can even promote collagen-building, a necessity for youthful skin.  The treatment may be complemented with LED light to achieve more profound tissue regeneration. Different colors of LED light have been shown to achieve specific goals. For example, blue LED light can destroy acne-causing bacteria. Red LED light may soothe inflammation and stimulate collagen production that results in a decrease in fine lines and wrinkles. What may be best about the treatment is that it can achieve all of these benefits while maintaining a gentle approach. Just three steps in thirty minutes.

The Steps of a Hydrafacial

Cleanse And Peel

The first steps in skin rejuvenation are cleansing and exfoliation. The Hydrafacial uses a vortex cleansing and hydra-peel applicator tip. This is different than microdermabrasion, which exfoliates the skin using tiny abrasive particles. It is different than a chemical peel, which works via a chemical reaction. During the Hydrafacial first step, the esthetician cleanses the skin using water, steam, and suction. As a result, the epidermis is emptied of debris and the pores are opened up for deeper cleaning.

Extraction and Hydration

The second step of the Hydrafacial involves the extraction of sebum and debris from the opened pores. This step is integral to the reduction in pore size and also to the treatment of persistent acne. Rather than using small instruments to push debris from pores, the Hydrafacial wand achieves this with gentle suction. Then, at just the right time when the skin is primed for absorption, the wand delivers a dose of hydration that leaves the skin dewy and smooth.

Infuse And Protect

The final step in this brief but powerful facial treatment is to promote ongoing remodeling. What is special about this phase of the Hydrafacial is that it is customized to your skin’s needs. Based on your skin assessment and treatment goals, your provider will select a serum to boost your results.  Some of the Hydrafacial boosters are designed to reduce the risk of acne flare-ups, some are formulated to maintain adequate hydration and correct the appearance of fine lines and dullness caused by sun damage.

Benefits Of HydraFacial Treatment
