The Wonder of Chemical Peels
- Posted on: Nov 15 2020
The many benefits of chemical peels at Azul will make your New Year that much brighter! Your skin will thank you! Why? The main reason– you can improve the look and feel of your skin and get rid of all the toxins built-up in your pores. Your skin deserves to be treated with loving care after being exposed to different environmental factors and pollution. Chemical peel treatments performed by one of our professional medical aesthetic are a convenient way to do this.
What is a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels are customized skin treatments that assist with cellular turnover. Cellular turnover is a natural physical process. However, it is something we need assistance with because, inevitably, dead and damaged skin cells accumulate. When cellular debris blankets the top layer of the skin it may look mottled or dull and it can also block your skincare products from working properly.
What a Chemical Peel can Do
Chemical peels can:
- Improve the texture of the skin
- Reduce fine line
- Stimulate collagen production to slow the signs of aging
- Increase cellular turnover
- Decrease hyperpigmentation and sunspots
- Help clear acne and unclog pores
- Improve minor scarring
- Give the skin a dewy glow
Types of Chemical Peels
At Azul Cosmetic Surgery and Medical Spa we offer a range of chemical peels for all skin types and conditions. Additionally, our peels are available as a one-time procedure or in a series for optimal results. All chemical peel options and questions can be discussed at any of our three offices in Fort Myers, Bonita Springs and Naples with one of our medical estheticians.
Medical Peel
This chemical peel is a synergistic blend of acids that improve the tone, texture, and clarity of the skin. The Azul Medical Peel is suitable for all skin types, requires no downtime, and has no associated discomfort during or after the peel. Your esthetician will choose the acid combination that is right for your skin.
Jessner’s Peel
Jessner’s peel is a chemical peel made from Jessner’s solution. This unique solution is a combination of resorcinol, lactic acid, and salicylic acid. Jessner’s peel is a moderate depth peel, great for acne affected skin, that improves the tone and texture of skin.
TCA Peel
A TCA peel is a stronger chemical peel that can address superficial pigmentation, fine surface lines and rejuvenate the skin. It is made of trichloracetic acid and often used in combination with prescription creams. However, as a stronger solution, patients may need about a week to heal after the TCA peel.
VI Peel
The VI peel is a moderately aggressive peel with little downtime. It is used to treat pigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, pore size, and acne scarring. Patients notice results after the first peel, however, we recommend 3 to 6 treatment sessions for ideal results. The VI peel can be used on the face, neck, chest, back, arms, and legs. Additionally, it is a peel that is safe to use in the under-eye area.
