The Modern Grandma’s Guide to Using Botox
- Posted on: Apr 19 2016
Wow, can life move fast. Childhood, adulthood, motherhood, and then suddenly, bam… you are a grandmother! And that’s wonderful! Few things make you happier than spoiling your grandkids silly. But there can be a nagging thought in the back of our minds. You may think, “I can’t possibly be a grandmother! I am far too energetic and young. I can’t be in that phase already!”
It’s funny — when most people picture a “grandmother” they think back to their own childhood and their memories of their aged-looking grandma. But nothing could be further from the truth these days! There is absolutely no reason that you have to accept the signs of aging without a fight. Thankfully, you have a secret weapon on your side. This secret can refresh your appearance and make those wrinkles vanish before your eyes. We all know what it is called. It has been featured on television, in magazines and on the faces of your favorite celebrities. It’s… BOTOX® Cosmetic!
Botox is a quick and simple in-office procedure that requires only topical anesthetic, and can be done in less than an hour, leaving you with plenty of time to enjoy the grandkids! There is no recovery time needed, so you can head straight back to your daily routine right after treatment.
By injecting Botox (known scientifically as botulinum toxin type A) into specific areas of the face, we can weaken the facial muscles that lead to the formation of wrinkles. Yes, this is the toxin that can cause botulism, a.k.a. food poisoning, and I am sure you are wondering if the treatment is safe. Absolutely. If it weren’t, we wouldn’t be offering it at Azul. We only inject very small amounts of the heavily diluted toxin into the target areas.
After treatment, the muscles that cause wrinkles soften and relax, helping to eliminate (for example) your crow’s feet. Results aren’t instantaneous; you will start to gradually notice the lines and wrinkles in your face fade over the course of a week or so. You can expect some very minor bruising where we inject the Botox , but this will quickly fade over a day or two.
Although Botox can be incredibly effective at reducing the appearance of wrinkles, it is not a permanent procedure, and there are some minor drawbacks. Those tiny muscles that cause wrinkles will start to regain their strength, and lines will start to reappear on your face after a while. By booking regular appointments every three to four months, you can avoid this and keep your face wrinkle-free. Also, because Botox only treats the wrinkles that are caused by muscle movement, it will not be effective against the everyday wear and tear of the skin. There are other treatments that, in conjunction with Botox, can lead to a more natural, harmonious result, and we’d be happy to discuss them with you!
Being a grandparent is the beginning of a wonderful adventure. You have so much ahead of you, and your appearance can easily reflect that.
