The benefits of Broad Band Light therapy (BBL)

Your face is usually the first thing people notice about you and, unfortunately, it’s one of the main areas of your body that immediately gives away your age. Years of unprotected sun exposure, harsh cleansers and the process of aging can do a number on your skin. Thankfully, there’s a skin treatment that can reduce the appearance of damage and subtract years from your complexion in just a few visits!

Broad Band Light therapy (BBL) is a tried-and-true treatment that has made a huge splash with our patients. If you know about Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy, then you should feel very comfortable with this treatment. BBL is essentially a more advanced, refined version of IPL. In short, it’s a next-generation treatment that will effectively treat redness, sun spots and uneven skin tone.

BBL doesn’t just treat discoloration (dyschromia) and skin texture issues; it’s actually a much more versatile treatment. It also helps break down pigmentation, eliminate broken capillaries and improve rosacea. Not to mention, it stimulates the production of collagen under the skin, helping to restore skin tightness. Who doesn’t want that?

Another incredible benefit of BBL is how it’s used to treat acne. The light energy used in BBL can affect overactive sebaceous glands, preventing them from forming excess oils that can cause acne. At Azul we even have a special adapter and process called “Forever Clear” that filters the Broad Band Light to a wavelength that targets the bacteria in acne – helping to kill bacteria at, and below, the skin surface. Although the results may not be permanent, they can be quite effective when used to tackle specific problems, or to maintain your best skin.

Still not convinced? Well, here’s another perk of BBL! This skin care treatment is completely non-invasive meaning no incisions or surgical procedures so you can return to your normal activities immediately following your session. The treatment takes between 20 to 40 minutes depending on what is being done – whether we’re targeting brown spots, red areas, vessels, bacteria, or all of them! The best part about BBL is it’s not only super effective but comfortable and safe, too.

We believe almost everyone can benefit from BBL, especially those of us living in Florida! Give us a call at (239) 747-1148 for a complimentary consultation with one of our Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants – your skin will thank you for it!
