Our Favorite Anti-Aging Fixes

Here at Azul, our team of experts has a combined total of more than 160 years of experience in the medical field. So how do we manage to stay looking so young and fabulous? We know all the best anti-aging tips and treatments, of course… and we’re excited to share them with you! Here are some of our favorite ways to keep your skin looking healthy and beautiful, no matter what your age. Some are part of our medical spa treatments or Trilogy Labs’ line of skincare products, while others don’t cost a dime.
Lisa Gorman isn’t your typical medical esthetician; she also owned a salon for twelve years, which added another dimension to her skincare expertise. Her “Best Supportive Product” award goes to… Growth Factor Renewal Cream. “When you’re regenerating cellular turnover with products such as Vita A Pro Serum,” Lisa explains, “you should be supporting the new cells with growth factors.” Growth Factor Renewal Cream is available exclusively through Trilogy Labs’ Blue Diamond line of anti-aging skincare products.
Our nurse practitioner and resident expert in injectables is Britten Stine — who, not surprisingly, recommends Sculptra as the best treatment for building collagen and restoring volume to your face to create a natural, beautiful shape. Collagen formation also creates what Britten likes to call “the Sculptra glow.” She also performs Botox treatments on patients whose ages range from their thirties to their eighties; if you’re lucky, she’ll even show you her book of “before and after” photos of her naturally refreshed-looking patients. “People who do Botox for years look younger than when they started by preventing ‘dynamic lines’ from forming in facial areas with a lot of muscle movements.”
Trust us: our practice director Cathi Kennedy-Campbell knows all about stress. So who’s better to recommend the benefits of pampering yourself with a monthly HydraFacial treatment? It’s a great way to cleanse, hydrate and moisturize… and also an ideal way to relax your mind and body in the middle of a crazy work week. Taking care of yourself also means following a regular skincare regimen with plenty of exfoliation and moisturizing (“morning and night!” urges receptionist Teresa Distefano). Angela Cordova, our medical assistant, recommends a daily skincare routine of a 10% glycolic acid facewash and Retin A. Medical assistant Deana Sardi adds, “Daily exfoliation prepares your skin for better product penetration.” And what’s the number one recommendation for keeping your skin healthy and protected every single day? “Sunscreen!” is our unanimous verdict.
Of course, everyone agrees that taking care of yourself include healthy diet and exercise. “Cut back on carbs,” says receptionist April Berry, “and focus more on eating fruits and vegetables with antioxidants,” which are known to combat damage from free radicals and enhance the protection of sunscreen. (“You are what you eat!” adds Angela.) Receptionist Diana Maldonado stresses the importance of daily multivitamins and exercise to promote healthy skin and a better body. And Diana also speaks for all of us when she reminds you to drink plenty of water. Hydrated skin is healthy, happy skin!
