Microneedling is Magic for the Skin

The signs of aging become increasingly prominent over time, but they don’t have to. Now that we know the various factors involved in the formation of lines, wrinkles, and tissue depletion, we can approach the causes of aging with confidence and innovative technologies. At Azul Cosmetic Surgery, patients can take advantage of several nonsurgical anti-aging beauty treatments, including microneedling. Utilizing this unique approach, we are able to reduce wrinkles and pigmentation issues and improve skin texture from the inside out.
How Microneedling Works
Microneedling rejuvenates the skin by triggering the body’s natural wound-healing response. This concept drives many of the rejuvenating procedures performed today, including laser resurfacing and other techniques that deliver energy into the dermis to heat and “injure” superficial tissue. Microneedling does this in a gentle, non-ablative way so is preferred by many people who desire a short, convenient recovery.
During a microneedling procedure, numerous ultra-fine needles penetrate the upper layers of the skin. We use an adjustable automated device to perform microneedling, which enables us to improve the overall experience and outcome of treatment. Before starting the procedure, the provider applies a topical numbing cream to the skin. This may take approximately 30 minutes to reach full effect. Treatment performed on numbed skin takes only a few minutes, during which the automated handpiece is pressed against the epidermis, allowing the tiny needles to quickly perforate tissue to an appropriate depth. The appropriate depth is one at which optimal collagen induction can take place. The production of collagen and elastin that is stimulated by a microneedling session can last several weeks, restoring firmness and radiance to the skin over time.
Microneedling treatments are suitable for adults who are interested in smoothing fine lines, stretch marks, and deeper creases. People with melasma, sun damage, or other pigmentation problems may also benefit from a series of microneedling treatments, as can patients who are troubled by visible scars such as acne scarring.
