Keeping Cool In Winter With Coolsculpting

Winter blues getting you down? Well, here is a fun winter story to perk you up a bit!

When we think of winter sports, we tend to think about skiing, ice skating, bobsledding. But one sport that you’re unlikely to see in a Winter Olympics anytime soon is… naked horseback riding?

Rumor has it that the initial idea for CoolSculpting, the breakthrough non-invasive body contouring procedure, came from a story heard by two scientists, Drs. Rox Anderson and Deiter Manstein. There was a woman in the country who loved to ride horses. She especially enjoyed riding them… in the nude. Why? The story doesn’t say. But she would often go out on naked horseback rides for hours on end.

When the winter arrived, you would think that the naked horseback rides would stop. Nope! She would still put a leather saddle on her horse and gallop for hours, butt-naked in the cold! The weather would make the saddle very, very cold, obviously. And she soon discovered that there was a significant loss of fat around her inner thighs. This was because the prolonged cold leather pressed against her skin killed the fat cells there!

(There is another story about this discovery came about, that tells of children who ate a lot of popsicles losing much of their cheek fat. And while this story is much more family-friendly, it is also far less fun! So, we’re going to stick with the tale of the nude horse rider!)

Who knows whether either of these tales are true? But what is beyond doubt is that the two doctors realized that the process, called cryolipolysis, could be harnessed for fat reduction anywhere on the body. All that was needed was a safe way to subject the fat cells to concentrated cold energy while leaving the rest of the tissue unharmed. And after years of experimentation perfecting the procedure, CoolSculpting was born!

The CoolSculpting Procedure

Don’t worry, the actual CoolSculpting procedure doesn’t involve any endless popsicle consumption or naked horseback riding in the cold! It’s done in the comfort of our nice warm offices over about the same time as your average lunch break.

CoolSculpting is a completely non-invasive treatment. We use the applicator to sort of suck up the fat in the areas you want treated, to keep it pressed against a cooling pad. As this cooling pad freezes and crystallizes the fat cells, it destroys them, but doesn’t affect the important things, like skin and muscles. It may feel like it burns a little bit, like pressing an ice cube up against your skin for a bit, but it shouldn’t be too uncomfortable. And it only takes around an hour or so to complete, depending on the areas being treated.

Afterward, you don’t have to take any special precautions. Unlike a surgical body contouring procedure (like liposuction), there is no recovery period associated with CoolSculpting. You can go about your daily business immediately after you walk out of Azul. Your skin might be a little red and sensitive around the areas treated, but that will fade quickly.

Why CoolSculpting Is a Great Idea in the Winter

While CoolSculpting might be considered a miracle fat-reducing treatment, it isn’t instantaneous. As with many cosmetic procedures, it can take time for you to see your final results. After your CoolSculpting treatment, your body needs time to reabsorb the destroyed fat cells and eliminate them from your body. This can take anywhere from four to five weeks. Throughout this period, you will see a slow but steady improvement in the areas treated. And once the fat cells are gone, they are gone for good. This does not mean you won’t gain weight; it will just happen in other areas of the body.

You should also know that it can take a few CoolSculpting treatments to properly sculpt your body and eliminate all of the fat cells. Because of this, it can take a few months for you to get the results you are looking for. That makes winter the perfect time to get CoolSculpting!

Although we enjoy warmer temperatures throughout the year here in Florida, the best beach weather isn’t usually until the spring. This leaves you with a few months to get a series of CoolSculpting treatments so you will have visible results by the spring and summer. When combined with a proper diet and exercise, CoolSculpting might be just what you need to get into a swimsuit-wearing mindset by March or April!
