Five Great Reasons We Love Halo at Azul

Oh Halo, how do we love thee? Let us count the ways…

The “doctoring” of Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s sonnets aside, we really do love the newest laser treatment that we are offering here at Azul: Halo laser treatment!

Every now and then, a product comes along that defies the marketing. Most things in the cosmetic surgery field are advertised as “state-of-the-art” and “cutting edge.” Often, these are just used as buzzwords. Not so with Halo!

Halo laser treatment is a massive breakthrough in laser skincare technology. It’s a huge step up over other laser skincare treatments like Fraxel laser skin rejuvenation. Since it broke onto the market, Halo has been getting fans all across the United States and the world, and for good reason! We could list dozens of reasons we love this treatment, but let’s start with the top five!

It Treats More Than Just Wrinkles and Rough Skin

Wrinkles and rough skin are the two primary reasons that patients come to us for laser skin treatments. Ablative lasers, like the ones used in CO2 laser skin resurfacing, are incredibly effective at reducing or removing wrinkles and improving rough skin texture. But with Halo, we can do far more than that!

Yes, Halo will treat wrinkles and rough skin, but it will also stimulate collagen and elastin production in the lower layers of the skin, and it can minimize old scars, reduce sun and age spots, and get rid of redness. How does it do this? Read on…

It Uses Both Ablative and Non-Ablative Wavelengths

People often ask us what the difference is between ablative and non-ablative lasers. It’s simple!

Ablative lasers are quite invasive. For example, in CO2 laser skin resurfacing, we literally remove the upper layer of your skin to get rid of the wrinkles and rough texture found there. Although super effective, it does count as surgery, and usually has a two week recovery time to allow the top layer of skin to recover.

Non-ablative lasers can treat the layers of the skin below the surface without causing any damage to the skin above. This makes it perfect to stimulate collagen and elastin production, smoothing the skin above and restoring texture and elasticity.

Halo combines these two laser wavelengths into one fractional treatment. Instead of simply removing the top layer of the skin, we can vaporize microchannels in the epidermis to improve your skin tone and texture. We can use the Halo laser to treat your skin to exact depths, customizing the treatment to your skincare condition and needs. And because it’s a fractional treatment, there’s far less thermal injury than non-fractional laser treatments.

It’s Much More Comfortable Than Other Laser Treatments

When we mentioned above that ablative lasers remove the top layer of your skin, you might have thought, “Ouch!” Well, we understand. Ablative laser skin treatments are usually not all that comfortable. Even non-ablative lasers can cause some discomfort. We can control the pain and discomfort with a topical anesthesic, but no one would ever call it a fun treatment to get.

Halo, on the other hand, is remarkably comfortable. And we mean “remarkably.” On a 1-to-10 discomfort scale, most patients give it a two or three at most. Even ignoring the results you can get with Halo, this is enough of a reason to opt for this laser skincare method over the rest!

It Has a Much Shorter Recovery Time

One of the biggest concerns patients usually have about getting cosmetic procedures is the associated recovery time. Unfortunately, most invasive cosmetic procedures can take anywhere from a week to a few weeks to recover. Laser skin treatments are no exception. Even though non-ablative lasers are much less invasive than ablative, they still require time for the skin to heal.

Halo, on the other hand, has a stunningly short recovery period. For the first 24 hours, your skin will likely be very red and sensitive, like you have a bad sunburn. We suggest taking a day or two off before resuming normal social activities. Your damaged skin will start to flake and slough off over the next five to six days, leaving you with younger, brighter, healthier-looking skin on day seven!

The Results Last for Years!

This is the great part about Halo laser treatment: your results will last for years!

Although your skin will continue to change as you age, you will be able to see the improvements from Halo for years to come. But if you really want to maintain, and even improve, your results, you will want to get annual touch-up treatments to keep your skin looking its absolute best!

Since we launched Halo at our latest event, we’ve been getting massive amounts of interest from all of our patients. Everyone seems to want to know more about this fantastic skincare treatment! That’s one of the reasons we offer free consultations.
