Facial Cosmetic Surgery — Understanding Your Options
- Posted on: Dec 23 2015
At first glance, entering the world of cosmetic surgery can seem overwhelming. There are so many different procedures and techniques to consider, and there can be a lot of misinformation out there. At Azul Cosmetic Surgery & Medical Spa, we know it can be hard to keep track of what your options are for various concerns, and what procedures you might want to avoid. That is why we offer consultations: to lay out all of your options so you can make an informed decision about your appearance. However, you will get the most out of these consultations if you come to us “in the know”, so that you have at least a cursory understanding of what you might be looking for.
With that in mind, we wanted to provide some information about the various facial cosmetic surgery options that we offer, so you can have a quick reference of the basics. You could very easily choose to have a single procedure to target one specific concern. When looking for a more global rejuvenation of the entire face we will often recommend procedures that complement each other. The following combination procedures can give you a harmonious rejuvenation of your entire face!
Facelift & Neck Lift
When people think “cosmetic surgery”, odds are the first thing they think of is a facelift. When combined with a neck lift, the procedure can take years off your appearance and make you look just as young as you feel! Here we offer the Azul Natural Lift technique, developed over many years by Dr. Flaharty. Using a combination of procedures listed below, the Azul Natural Lift can achieve natural (and long-lasting) results with no visible signs of surgery and limited downtime. You won’t find a better facelift anywhere else!
Fat Transfer
This is exactly what it sounds like — a transfer of your own body fat from one area to another. As we age, the loss of “subcutaneous” fat (the fat below your skin which keeps it looking smooth) in our faces can greatly contribute to sagging skin, hollowness, and an aged appearance. Although injectable fillers are an option, fat transfer uses your own living fat cells to replace lost volume in a more natural way. With fat transfer you can achieve a longer lasting result with a more natural aesthetic while reducing the need of repeat injectables in the office.
Endoscopic Brow Lift
Also known as an endoscopic forehead lift, this procedure can take years off your appearance by reducing a furrowed brow, frown lines, wrinkles and any loose skin around your eyes. Through a few small incisions hidden behind the hairline we internally release your brow, and then lift and reshape it to the desired position to provides a long-lasting and natural-looking rejuvenation of the forehead, upper eyelids and crows feet areas. This procedure is both quick and effective.
Eyelid Surgery
As thinner skin is generally the first to show signs of aging, your eyelids can be the biggest contributors to a tired, aged appearance that develops on the face as we age. Also known as blepharoplasty, eyelid surgery aims to reduce heaviness of the upper eyelids, improve crow’s feet, reduce protruding fat pockets and dark circles from under the eyes, and correct bags and loose skin that you may have developed around your eyes. We can easily preform both upper and lower eyelid surgery at the same time with no small, well hidden incisions. This is a great option for anyone who is noting tired, heavy, or loose, baggy eyelids. This quick outpatient procedure can help you look younger and rested in no time with minimal discomfort.
Chin Enhancement
There are a number of different procedures available for the chin area, depending on the result you are looking for. If you have been experiencing soft tissue loss due to the natural aging process, injectable fillers offer a way to reduce frown lines and fill in depressions. For those with a weak chin position, we offer a surgically placed chin implant to strength your jawline and create balance in your facial features. We also offer a new injectable treatment called KYBELLA, which helps reduce the fat deposits that can lead to a double chin. All these procedures can result in a more defined jawline and neck line lending to a thinner, healthier and younger appearance.
Cheek Enhancement
Through the use of injectable fillers or implants, we can offer either long-lasting or even permanent enhancement of the cheeks. Although implants work nicely, we have found that injectable fillers for the cheeks have become far more popular among our patients. With the new longer lasting fillers this less invasive treatment option gives you the chance to lift and fill your sagging cheeks restoring the youthful shape to theface with virtually no recovery period. As our faces change over time these injectable fillers can be adjusted to achieve the best aesthetic result at every age.
CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing
Think of this as the layer of polish on your newly rejuvenated face! Using a carbon dioxide or erbium laser we remove the surface of the skin, eliminating imperfections, sun damage and scarring. This also tightens the deeper layers of skin removing unwanted wrinkles with great precision. The newest skin resurfacing lasers can be adjusted to treat the specific problem. Light treatments for fine lines and creases, medium treatments for medium sized wrinkles, and deeper treatments for more advanced skin damage. This adjustability has made laser resurfacing a very patient friendly procedure.
Although we offer all of these procedures in isolation, during your consultation the doctor may recommend a combination of these treatments. We find that the use of additional complementary treatments helps create a harmonious, more complete rejuvenation of your face than is possible with just a single targeted procedure.
