Did They or Didn’t They – Have These Oscar Winners Had Cosmetic Surgery?
- Posted on: Feb 23 2016
Every year at the Oscars, we see celebrities walking down the red carpet, we see their close-up as their nomination is announced, and, of course, their triumphant walk up onto the stage to accept their Academy Award. And it really makes you wonder how, year after year, these celebrities keep their youthful looks. It is like some of them don’t age! Well, we all age, but many celebrities use cosmetic surgery to help keep their looks as youthful as ever. We aren’t talking about the horror stories we see on tabloid covers about botched procedures. These Oscar winners smartly choose which procedures they are going to have done and get small touch-ups over time. For many, the work is so well done that no one can even tell. And so you wonder… did they or didn’t they?
Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman is known as one of the most beautiful and talented actresses in the world, and for good reason. Her Oscar win for The Hours in 2002 was incredibly well deserved, as were her other Oscar nominations. The question is, are her stunning looks completely natural or are they assisted with some smart cosmetic surgery? There is no way of knowing for sure, but with careful examination, you can make some educated guesses. Her forehead has more than likely benefited from the wrinkle smoothing power of Botox more than once. Her still-tight jawline and smooth neck more than likely came from an excellent face and neck lift. It seems that, if she does have cosmetic surgery, she is very selective about what she gets done.
Michael Douglas
Two-time Oscar winner Michael Douglas is now in his early 70s, but standing next to his wife, the stunning Catherine Zeta-Jones, you’d be hard pressed to guess that! Michael has fully admitted to using cosmetic surgery in the past to maintain his handsome looks. An excellent facelift in the early 2000s has kept his skin from sagging, and a smart use of Botox has kept the wrinkles away. His most recent procedure was a necklift, which has kept him looking youthful. One thing to note—if you saw him in Ant-Man looking like he was still in his early 30s, that was unfortunately CGI. Oh, the wonders of digital imagery!
Sandra Bullock
This Academy Award–winning actress swears she has never had cosmetic surgery, but careful examination of her appearance over the last fifteen years makes us a little doubtful. Her youthful face, that is just as stunning and line-free as it was when she was in her 30s, makes you wonder if Botox or a facelift was involved. Even if cosmetic surgery assisted her in maintaining her looks into her 50s, we have to admit that the lion’s share of the credit must go to excellent genes and proper skin care!
Jane Fonda
For us, two-time Oscar winner Jane Fonda is the gold standard for smart use of cosmetic surgery. She has gone on record saying that cosmetic surgery “bought her a decade.” She believes that, as you get older, you must “stay brave and keep trying to go beyond your comfort zone and see what you need to get to become who you’re supposed to be.” Absolutely excellent advice from one of the best actresses of our time. Well into her 70s, Fonda does Pilates and meditates daily. She understands that cosmetic surgery alone can’t do the job of keeping her looking as young as ever. A facelift and necklift can only take you so far if you aren’t exercising and keeping healthy and active.
The world of Hollywood is a tough one, and the pressure to remain eternally young can be overwhelming. Many can go horribly overboard, but some actors know that smart use of cosmetic surgery is the way to maintain their looks and keep their appearance youthful. They believe that you are only as old as you feel, and their appearance reflects that.
