BBL Facial Rejuvenation

female under going a facial broadband light treatmentHave you heard of BBL? That’s the abbreviation for Broad Band Light and lots of people have not heard of it. Instead, they are more familiar with its “cousin” IPL, Intense Pulsed Light. At Azul, we offer both IPL and BBL. The most newer equipment uses BBL as the primary modality.

Broad Band Light (BBL) Facial Rejuvenation
Brand Band Light therapy is one of the newest and most effective ways to deal with environmentally damaged skin. If you suffer from redness, age and sun damage, or an overall uneven skin tone, BBL can help address all these issues.

BBL is actually a refinement of an already existing treatment that we offer here at Azul, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy. If you’ve ever had IPL, you know how effective it is at restoring an even skin tone. Unlike laser treatments, where the top layer of the skin is either removed or intentionally damaged, IPL uses light energy to damage the specific skin cells that are actually causing the uneven skin tone and sun spots. The light energy heats up the targeted tissue and through your body’s natural healing process, these damaged cells become darker, drier and then just flake off. Compared to laser treatments, it’s also very comfortable, only feeling a bit like a rubber band snapping against the skin.

BBL doesn’t just help with skin tone and texture issues. It also helps break down pigmentation, eliminate broken capillaries and improve rosacea. It also stimulates the production of collagen under the skin, helping to restore skin tightness.

Another exciting use of BBL is how it can treat acne. The light energy used in BBL can affect overactive sebaceous glands, preventing them from forming excess oils that can cause acne. Although the results may not be permanent, they can be quite effective in the short term with repeated treatments.

Whether you receive BBL or IPL, both procedures are effective at treating redness, sun damage, and uneven skin tone. They are excellent alternatives to true laser treatments like CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing or Fraxel Laser Skin Rejuvenation. And you can find both BBL and IPL right here at Azul!
