CoolSculpting: Be You in a Smaller Package
- Posted on: Sep 15 2019
Until relatively recently, shedding stubborn fat has been difficult for most people. We may get close to where we want to be, but not quite all the way there. Since the development of the CoolSculpting device, getting all the way there has become a lot easier. You may know what CoolSculpting is (a fat freezing technique), and why it’s so popular (no surgery, hello!). At the same time, you may also have one or two ideas about this treatment that aren’t necessarily accurate. Here, we discuss what those may be.
CoolSculpting is painful.
No pain, no gain, right? Wrong! CoolSculpting has gotten a bit of a bad rap for being more than a little uncomfortable. This stemmed from a few early reviews on first-generation devices. Improvements that have occurred over time have made CoolSculpting much more of a breeze. At Azul, we have all the newest equipment. Which means we have the most comfortable – and the fastest – treatments available. During treatment, most of our patients describe an odd sensation of suction. This is necessary to secure tissue in place for uniform results. After the small amount of tissue is stabilized between the two cooling panels, sensations may progress from tingling to mild aching to numbness. This part of the process usually takes no more than 10 minutes.
What about after treatment?
Following a CoolSculpting session, occasionally people feel tenderness or soreness, but most feel just fine! Any tenderness can be helped with gentle massage and improves gradually as nerves that had been numbed during treatment regain full sensation.
CoolSculpting is for the tummy and thighs and nothing else.
This idea could leave you out in the cold when where you really want to be is freezing! CoolSculpting was somewhat limited at first due to inexperience and standard applicator size. Today, a variety of adjustments are possible, allowing us to treat a wide range of areas, including the:
- Knees
- Banana roll below the buttocks
- Hips
- Flanks
- Chin
- Bra fat
- Backs of the arms
- Inner and outer thighs
Knowing the Limits
Patients who know what to expect from a given treatment are typically the most satisfied with their overall experience. While it is important to know that CoolSculpting can do a lot, it is also beneficial to know what cannot be achieved with this modality. For example, CoolSculpting only targets fat. People with loose, saggy skin may need other treatment options to manage skin tightening after reducing their areas of fat. Also, reducing fat does not translate to lower weight on the scale. It does, however, translate to looking and feeling pretty amazing.
