Medical Peel Program
What Is A Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels increase cellular turnover which in turn refines the epidermis and treats environmentally damaged skin. In other words, a chemical peel is applied to the skin to remove the outer, damaged layers to reveal smoother layers of skin. Patients with acne prone skin, sensitive skin and dry to oily conditions are ideal candidates for a chemical peel. Chemical peels come in a range of strengths to treat each patient’s unique needs.
Benefits of Chemical Peels
As a chemical peel exfoliates the dead skin, it is revitalizing the face and showing fresh and clean skin. With one treatment you can improve the look and feel of your face and skin. Your skin needs to be treated after being exposed to different environmental factors and pollution throughout the year. There are many benefits to getting a chemical peel done. These are the most common benefits from the procedure:
- Helping to reduce breakouts
- Improves acne scars
- Reduces discoloration from sun damage
- Hydrates the skin
- Stimulates healthy skin growth
- Stimulates collagen growth
“I’ve been going to Azul for years now and have had everything from Botox, Fillers, TCA peels (for under eye crepiness), hydra-facials and facial peels. I get tons of compliments on the clarity and smoothness of my skin and I couldn’t be happier.” – Andrea K.
Candidates for Chemical Peels
Usually, lighter-haired and lighter-skinned individuals see more results from the chemical peel process. Patients with darker skin could still see results, however, they may not be as even. In addition, people with very loose skin on their face may have difficulty with the chemical peel. Before making any skin care decisions, you should have a consultation with Dr. Flaharty.
Types of Chemical Peels
At Azul Cosmetic Surgery and Medical Spa we offer a range of chemical peels for all skin types, conditions, and price ranges. Additionally, our peels are available as a one-time procedure or in a series for optimal results. All chemical peel options, concerns, and questions can be discussed at any of our three offices.
Azul Designer Peel
Here at Azul Cosmetic Surgery and Medical Spa, we offer our own designer peel. This chemical peel is a synergistic blend of ingredients that improve the tone, texture, and clarity of the skin. The Azul designer peel is suitable for all skin types, requires no downtime, and has no associated discomfort during or after the peel.

Express Peel
The express peel is a series of gentle chemical peels that start with dermaplaning followed by the chemical peel. Each type of express peel is customized to your skin and can include ingredients such as glycolic, lactic, or salicylic acid. Dr. Flaharty recommends this effective peel as part of your monthly skin health maintenance plan. The whole process takes about 30 minutes and there is no downtime necessary.
Jessner’s Peel
Jessner’s peel is a chemical peel made from Jessner’s solution. This unique solution is a combination of resorcinol, lactic acid, and salicylic acid. Jessner’s peel is a moderate depth peel, great for acne affected skin, that improves the tone and texture of skin. Unlike other chemical peels, Jessner’s peel is only available in one strength.
TCA Peel
A TCA peel is a stronger chemical peel that can address superficial pigmentation, fine surface lines and rejuvenate the skin. It is made of trichloracetic acid and often used in combination with prescription creams. However, as a stronger solution, patients may need about a week to heal after the TCA peel.
VI Peel
The VI peel is a moderately aggressive peel with little downtime. It is used to treat pigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, pore size, and acne scarring. Patients notice results after the first peel, however, we recommend 3 to 6 treatment sessions for ideal results. The VI peel can be used on the face, neck, chest, back, arms, and legs. Additionally, it is a peel that is safe to use in the under-eye area.
Vitalize Peel
Vitalize peel is a chemical peel made by SkinMedica comprised of a light Jessner’s peel followed by a retinoic acid. This peel is a perfect boost for radiant skin and decreases the appearance of acne, scarring, and dark spots. The vitalize peel is a 3 step process which includes, a prepping solution, a peeling solution, and a retinol solution that all work together.
