Ultherapy®
What is Ultherapy?
The Ulthera® System provides a non-surgical option for lower face and neck lifting. The Ultherapy procedure, a completely new category of treatment, signals a sea change in medical aesthetics.
The Ulthera System affords a degree of control and consistency not seen to date with other tissue tightening devices. The Ulthera System’s DeepSEE® ultrasound energy is used to first see the layers of targeted soft tissue and then treat at a prescribed depth — with unprecedented precision.
What is the Difference between Ultherapy and a Facelift?
Ultherapy is an “uplift,” not a face lift. While it is not a replacement for surgery, it is a viable option for those not ready for a facelift or those looking to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery.
You may also want to discuss other options, such as Silhouette InstaLift, if you want a subtle lift without surgery.
How does Ultherapy work?
As with other ultrasound procedures, a smooth applicator placed upon your skin projects an image onto a screen that allows your practitioner to plan where to send the energy. This same applicator is then used to deliver low levels of focused heat at just the right depth below the skin to achieve a positive effect, all the while leaving the surface of your skin undisturbed.
Your skin’s response to the energy is to stimulate the growth of new collagen. A gradual tightening and firming occur, resulting in a natural lift of the skin over time.

Who is a good candidate for Ultherapy?
A good candidate for Ultherapy is someone with skin that has “relaxed” to the point of looking and often feeling, less firm. A lowered eyebrow line or sagging skin on the eyelids, for instance, is often the first sign of “maturing” skin. Typically, those in their 30s and older who have mild to moderate skin laxity are candidates.
If you’re concerned about a double chin and your skin retains its elasticity, Dr. Flaharty may recommend KYBELLA injections, which reduce fat under the chin. CoolSculpting is a noninvasive fat reduction treatment for double chins if you don’t need to tighten the skin.

How is Ultherapy different from lasers?
Lasers typically address issues in the superficial layers of the skin (fine lines, wrinkles, or pigment changes). Ultherapy addresses the deep skin layer and the foundational layer targeted in cosmetic surgery that lifts and lends support to the skin. Therefore, the 2 technologies are quite complementary!

What is the Recovery from Ulthera Skin Rightening?
Ultherapy at our Naples, Bonita Springs, and Fort Myers area practice requires very little downtime. You are able to return to your normal activities right away, and there are no special measures you need to take. Your skin may appear a bit flushed immediately after the treatment, but any redness should disappear within a few hours.
How many Ultherapy treatments will I need?
The majority of patients need only one treatment; however, some may benefit from more than one, depending on how much laxity they have and their biological response to the ultrasound and collagen-building process.
