Body Skin Tightening

Loose skin is a problem that many people experience, and it can be caused by weight loss, pregnancy, and even aging, preventing the skin from returning to its original state. Diet alone cannot shrink the skin, so one of the best ways to prevent the skin from stretching too much is exercising or undergoing a cosmetic treatment. At Azul® Cosmetic Surgery & Medical Spa, Dr. Kornstein and Dr. Yee can reduce the laxity of your skin with a body tightening procedure to offer you a tighter contour with less sag.

Candidates for Body Skin Tightening

Good candidates for skin tightening are those who have mild to moderate skin laxity issues due to aging or significant life events. The procedure is minimally invasive, which makes it mostly recommended for those whose skin laxity is not yet extreme. If you notice that your skin has just begun sagging, this treatment can keep it from worsening.

Patients should be in relatively good health and have no active skin conditions (e.g., an infection). They should have realistic expectations for the procedure as well as the results and commit themselves to aftercare. Ideally, patients should be at a stable weight, with no significant changes over the past couple of months. Further weight loss can affect the results, so we recommend that you wait until you reach the end of your weight-loss journey.

The ideal patient is also a non-smoker, as smoking can slow down the healing process. Patients should have realistic expectations from the procedure, focusing on significant improvement.

How Does Body Skin Tightening Work?

At Azul® Cosmetic Surgery & Medical Spa, our providers offer skin-tightening benefits with less recovery time. Below are the skin tightening options depending on your skin quality and needs.

1. BodyTite®

Skin tightening treatments often follow weight loss efforts, and BodyTite® can encourage that. This minimally invasive procedure uses an RF-assisted liposuction technique to target your fat pockets and potential cellulite, offering a “tighter” physique. Thanks to the RF energy, the recovery time is also reduced as the precise heat melts the fatty tissue rather than suctioning it out.

2. Renuvion®

Renuvion®, also referred to as skin tightening with J-plasma, strengthens the deep-rooted ligaments supporting the skin. This makes it easy to maintain muscle structure with time, reducing the side effects of gravity. Early research also shows that the plasma gas employed by this technique can reduce the potential of cancer cell occurrence and kill bacteria. As the blood flow increases, you can enjoy long-lasting health.

The procedure uses a combination of radiofrequency and cold helium plasma to send energy right underneath the skin. The warmth of the treatment reduces the excess fat underneath the skin and triggers the production of new collagen and elastin. This tightens the skin without causing any significant harm to the surrounding tissue.

3. Profound®

For those looking for a “profound” skin tightening procedure, our experts at Azul® Cosmetic Surgery & Medical Spa can offer the Profound® RF treatment. This procedure harnesses the power of RF Microneedling, which stimulates the body’s natural production of collagen. The hyaluronic acid and elastin levels are also improved, bringing the loose skin together and reducing visible lines and creases in the skin.

Recovery from Body Skin Tightening

Skin tightening is a minimally invasive procedure, and most recovery side effects are completed within a few days. Patients usually notice some swelling, bruising, and mild itching, which fade within one week. If the entire body has been treated, then most patients are typically able to return to work around that time, although high-labor jobs could require a two-week leave.

After the procedure, we recommend that you wear a compression garment. This keeps the swelling down, especially if the treatment is given on a broader scale. If you receive skin tightening on the face, the compression garment should be worn for about 72 hours. A full-body treatment could require you to wear the compression attire for up to six weeks.

Body Skin Tightening Results

Results may vary from one individual to another based on how extensive the treatment was. During the first few days of the treatment, your skin will feel smoother and tighter. Once the side effects have cleared, you will notice that the radiofrequency has reduced various imperfections on your skin.

The best results from skin tightening can take up to one year to show. This is because the new collagen and elastin will need some time to mature. This can take as little as one to two months, but patience is key in this treatment. Most patients notice significant changes to their skin after about six months.

To maximize the results, stay out of direct sunlight and always wear sunblock outside. Proper nutrition and exercise regimens can keep the skin tight, as well as the appropriate water consumption. For best results, follow-up maintenance treatments ensure your skin quality never stops improving. We recommend that you set up yearly follow-ups to check your progress.
