Why Is Adding a Brow Lift to Your Facelift a Smart Idea?
- Posted on: Dec 20 2022
One of the most common misconceptions about plastic surgery for many men and women is that a facelift does not, in fact, address issues on the entire face. Despite its name, facelift surgery only corrects issues on the lower two-thirds of the face (from the cheeks to the neck). And while the results achieved from a facelift are stunning (tighter, firmer facial skin), the reality is that this surgical procedure can’t help you if you struggle with issues on the upper third of your face (especially around the eyes and on the forehead). However, brow lift surgery (also known as a forehead lift) can help address age- and lifestyle-related concerns on your upper face to help you look younger and more attractive than you have in years.
Below, we’ll explore brow lift surgery, including how it’s performed and why you may want to add this procedure to your facelift.
What Is a Brow Lift?
Many men and women struggle with wrinkles and deep lines in the forehead, along with sagging eyebrows that can make them look older and more tired and frustrated than they actually are. These skin issues can severely affect men’s and women’s sense of confidence, causing them to feel self-conscious about the appearance of their upper face. Brow lift surgery, however, is used to reduce the presence of skin creases on the forehead as well as remove excess fat in the eyebrows.
How Is Brow Lift Surgery Performed?
At Azul Cosmetic Surgery & Medical Spa, we are proud to offer endoscopic brow lift surgery. The goal of this procedure is to offer patients the best, most transformative results while minimizing any resulting scars.
This procedure is performed with intravenous sedation with local anesthesia to ensure that you do not feel any discomfort or pain during your surgery. Once the anesthesia has been administered, your cosmetic surgeon will make small incisions within your hairline. An endoscope (a small instrument with a camera attached to the end of it) is inserted through one of these incisions. This tool allows your surgeon to clearly see what needs to be corrected so that you can achieve the results you desire. Through the other incisions, your surgeon will lift the subcutaneous tissue in the eyebrow and forehead to achieve a lifted and more youthful appearance. This lifted tissue is then attached to the bone. Additionally, fat may be removed or redistributed in the eyebrows to give you lighter, more balanced eyebrows.
Once your procedure is completed, you can look forward to smoother skin on the forehead as well as eyebrows that are no longer heavy with sagging skin.
What Are the Benefits of Combining a Brow Lift With a Facelift?
Not only does combining brow lift and facelift surgeries offer you a more complete facial rejuvenation, since your entire face is being treated at the same time, but the truth is that only having one of these procedures performed can leave your face looking imbalanced and aesthetically odd. A common analogy is that undergoing facelift surgery only is like mowing only half your front yard: the mowed portion looks fantastic and clean, but the unmowed area can be unsightly and may even distract from the treated area. You don’t want to go through an entire facelift procedure just for people to look at your face and wonder why one portion looks new and youthful and the other portion looks old and worn down.
Additionally, combining these two surgical procedures can minimize the overall cost and recovery time. Since you are undergoing both procedures at the same time, you will only need to pay once for many of the fees, including the anesthesia fee, surgeon fee, and facility fee. And you will be recovering from both of these procedures at the same time, rather than recovering at different times, should you decide to undergo these procedures at different times.
It needs to be mentioned that some patients choose to add blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) to their facelift and brow lift surgeries. With these three procedures, you can achieve a total transformation of your entire face.
In the end…
Combining brow lift surgery with your facelift can offer you even more stunning results than just one procedure. This can help you feel more confident and comfortable with your entire facial appearance. No longer do you need to worry about what others may be thinking about your face. Instead, you can smile with the knowledge that you are turning heads for all the right reasons!
